Offence: It is an offence to let your dog worry sheep A CARLISLE man has pleaded guilty to being the owner of a dog that worried livestock in fields on the western fringe of the city. Chris Heggie, 25, pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared at the city s Rickergate Magistrates Court yesterday. The court heard that it happened on Christmas Eve last year in the Moorhouse Road area. The livestock involved were sheep, the court heard. After the defendant entered his plea, and magistrates heard brief details, they adjourned the case until May 20. Court records say that the reason for the adjournment - at the prosecution s request - was so that consideration can be given to imposing an order that would compel the defendant to keep his dog under proper control.
