It was crazy,” State Parks Officer Danielle Snyder told the Orange County Register. “I’ve worked on the beach for 30 years, I’ve never seen them before … it was definitely something rare.” Translucent and roughly marble-sized, the comb jellies are also known as sea gooseberries, and they look and feel like little blobs of jellyfish despite only a loose taxonomic relation and no stinging ability.
