Portland Planning Board approves senior, family housing project in West End
The 95 apartments in two buildings behind the old Mercy Hospital will go to those making less than the city s median income.

A project approved last week by the Portland Planning Board will add sorely needed affordable family units to the city’s housing mix, officials said.
“The type of housing being provided here is necessary,” Planning Board Chair Brandon Mazer said. “We are not seeing a ton of family housing in general coming in. We are seeing a lot of studios and one-bedrooms, so this is really meeting some of our need.”

Maine’s tallest building OK’d for downtown Portland
The 266-unit, 18 story, 180,000-square-foot building will go up on the site of a small plaza behind the U.S. Post Office at the corner of Federal and Temple streets.

The Planning Board last week approved a project that would add an 18-story, largely residential high-rise to the corner of Temple and Federal streets.

Right now it is a small brick plaza at the Federal Street entrance to the United States Postal Services office on Congress Street, but soon it be home to the state’s tallest building.
Norway Savings Bank s exterior space at its headquarters at 216 Main St., in Norway, is getting a green facelift.
Landscaping, improved pedestrian walkways, more parking and even sculptures will be added to grounds in a two-phase project that has already started and is expected to be completed by mid-July.
