A gunman on the loose in the Mission District. And there was a police chase. We are in San Francisco. Here is the latest on what we know. Good morning. Reporter good morning. People have started waking up this morning and coming to see the crime scene that is still somewhat active this morning. There actually some apartment buildings just above the businesses here on 24th street. A couple of people have come outside of their homes this morning. A surprise, of course to see the crime scene tape around this area. You can see what appears to be a bullet hole in one of the windows. This is a hair styling salon on 24 street. That appears to be a bullet hole. We will take you to video of what the scene looks like earlier this morning and tell you exactly what we know so far. Officers found a man shot on 24 street here. He died on scene. The sidewalk where he was found is blocked off by police tape. The whole situation started at midnight after shots were reported here in the Mission District
Street, they found a man shot to death on a sidewalk, they saw a driver speeding away, they chased after it believing the person or people inside could have something to do with the shooting. They eventually lost it around highway 280, they went back to 24th street, and found a man who was shot and later died at the scene. They shut down the street while they investigated. They later open to the street up but kept the sidewalk taped off throughout the morning to keep looking for evidence when the sun came up. There are a lot of questions, what the motive is, whether the suspect and victim knew each other, and what kind of gun was used. But for concerned neighbors. We dont believe it is a random act or ongoing threat. Reporter officers got to the scene weekly because of shot stoppers. They dont know if that shotspotters. Because of shotspotters. It is helpful, it allows us to respond as quickly as possible, as soon as some type of event occurs, such as a shooting, and pinpoint the locat
