People have started waking up this morning and coming to see the crime scene that is still somewhat active this morning. There actually some apartment buildings just above the businesses here on 24th street. A couple of people have come outside of their homes this morning. A surprise, of course to see the crime scene tape around this area. You can see what appears to be a bullet hole in one of the windows. This is a hair styling salon on 24 street. That appears to be a bullet hole. We will take you to video of what the scene looks like earlier this morning and tell you exactly what we know so far. Officers found a man shot on 24 street here. He died on scene. The sidewalk where he was found is blocked off by police tape. The whole situation started at midnight after shots were reported here in the Mission District. The San Francisco Police Department saw a car, possibly connected to the call, drive away from the scene. Police chase the car but the driver got away. We dont know who the victim is an the medical examiner will release that information after the investigation. There have been a couple of people coming out of their homes. We tried to ask them if they heard anything, but they were in a hurry going to work this morning. We will continue to stay out here and see if we can get any further details. If we do, we will bring those to you live. Police in san bruno searching for a third suspect now in connection with the shootout last tuesday at the shops at tanforan. They are searching for dandre gant, believe to be one of the two shooters at the mall. Meantime, Police Arrested two other teenagers in the case ages 15 and 16. Investigators day the 16year old is the other shooter. The San Bruno Police chief says it was an argument between two groups that escalated into gunfire. We are taking an extremely proactive approach do not stop at those who may have just fired the shots, but to identify everyone involved and what level of participation they had in the incident, regardless of their ages, to hold them accountable. Two teenagers were wounded in the shooting, but they are expected to be okay. The gunbattle sent terrified shoppers running for cover. The teenage suspects are now booked at the San Mateo County Youth Services center suspected of attempted murder and conspiracy. An eight hour standoff with San Jose Police ended peacefully on stone avenue. Police were told there was at least one gun inside the home, and they heard what sounded like a loud argument. Officers, including the s. W. A. T. Team and crisis negotiators, spent hours trying to get the people inside come out. Eventually two man and a woman came out without incident. After the two big earthquakes in Southern California last week, Scientists Say there may be more problems ahead. People in that quake zone made field thousands of aftershocks in the couple of weeks. Ridgecrest was hit hard by a big quake on july 4 and then a town about 25 miles away was hit by a bigger quake. The very next day. Highways were buckled and gas lines were ruptured and there were several house fires. At least 15 buildings were damaged, but no major injuries or deaths have been reported. The 7. 1 magnitude earthquake friday was the largest to hit Southern California in 20 years, it followed a six point for earthquake on thursday and for some the damage ran through their entire homes. With new census form still up in the air, the Justice Department has big changes, creating a new legal team to push the president s argument that the census forms should include a Citizenship Question. The fourth of july Holiday Weekend was also a big test for sfo and the changes to the rideshare pickups own. It was the first major holiday th a lot of people traveling. Sfo moved the pickup area to the fifth floor of the domestic parking lot where there is a standby parking lot for rideshare drivers. In San Francisco this Morning Police are looking for a suspect after a deadly shooting in the Mission District or police say they were first alerted by shotspotter after midnight, and when they responded they found a body on 24th street. Officers say they then found a car that was possibly connected to that call drive away from the scene. Police started a chase but say the driver got away. Officers say they man they found died on the scene from the gunshot wounds. That area still blocked off by crime tape as the investigation continues. Also new this morning, at least one person dead after an overnight car crash in santa clara. Firefighters responded to fordham drive around 1 30 am. They found several cars that were parked along that street damaged from the black sedan. Our crew on the scene estimates about half a block worth of damage. Authorities have not said what led to that crash. The cleanup continues in Southern California after the two big earthquakes last week. There have been thousands of aftershocks, including more than 10 in just the past two hours. Magnitudes were between 2. 5 and 3. 5. No deaths or serious injuries have been reported, but the damage has been widespread. That have a lot of people in Northern California think about what they need to do to prepare for a big quake here. You and i have been talking about that as well. Reporter some people might be thinking about earthquake insurance, maybe buying or creating your own Disaster Preparedness kits, but getting ready for the next big quake is top of mind for a lot of people following those big earthquakes. The governor is urging you to map out emergency escape routes and get those earthquake quits ready. The California Earthquake Authority says rates are lower and there are bigger discounts for earthquake insurance than in years past. That is something to consider. Officials say that will give utilities and trains precious seconds to shut down fo shakg star. Firefighters recovering and twofamily foster homes after a fire in Pleasant Hill. Crews responded to the call just after 5 pm last night. When they arrived they found two singlefamily homes on fire. Crews had to pull back when they were not able to shut off the gas. Pg e arrived to turn off the gas lines, but both houses collapsed. The firefighter who was hurt suffered an ankle injury. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Police in san jose still searching now for the person who shot four people over the weekend. It happened saturday just before midnight around hillsdale avenue. The victims were treated for nonlifethreatening injuries. The motive has not been revealed, but some of the neighbors say they dont feel safe. It makes you feel uncomfortable. San jose was once called the safest big city in america, but Violent Crime has been rising in recent years. Just last month a man killed four people and then took his own life. It was one of the deadliest Mass Shootings in the history of santa clara county. Davis Police Officer natalie corona, who was killed in the line of duty, will be remembered on a stretch of interstate 5 running through her hometown. They were asked to leave a starbucks on the fourth of july. One of the customers complained about not feeling safe with so many policemen around. The officers were asked to move to where the customer could not see them or leave the starbucks. The tempe Police Officers Association Says the officers were offended and left the store. Two of them are veterans. One having served over 20 years in the military. Especially on july 4, it was pretty upsetting to have that request made.
