U.S. District Judge Madeline Cox Arleo sentenced Jamel Armfield, 20, of Jersey City, previously convicted of three felonies, to 60 months in prison for illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition in connection with a June 2020 Jersey City shooting.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Armfield previously pleaded guilty by videoconference before Arleo to an indictment charging him with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.
On June 24, 2020, Armfield fired nine rounds of ammunition at a moving vehicle on Gates Avenue in Jersey City from a .45 caliber Springfield Armory semi-automatic handgun, Model XD-45 ACP. He also had in his possession several rounds .45 caliber ammunition.

A South Jersey man and his ex-con pal ran a black-market business selling guns and machine guns that he made at home, said federal authorities who took both into custody.
David Bibler, 55, of Haddon Heights produced fully automatic pistols and rifles, as well as silencers while ex-con Francis Hillsee, 36, of Mount Laurel priced and sold them, Acting U.S. Attorney Rachael A. Honig said.
Hillsee also sold boxes of ammunition, she said.
Bibler had eight firearms, including rifles and pistols, as well as firearm manufacturing equipment, explosive powder, and a large amount of ammunition when he was arrested at his home, Honig said.

The Jan. 30 blaze burned through the arcade and offices at the outdoor amusement park, along with Hamburger Construction Company and Dairy Queen, sending smoke visible from as far out as Atlantic City. Scores of firefighters and area emergency crews responded to the wind-fueled fire. There were no injuries and the buildings were not occupied at the time, officials have said.
Investigators found the inferno was caused by “an undetermined electrical source” near the front of the Playland’s Castaway Cove building, according to Ocean City spokesman Doug Bergen.
