Within the last hour we learned two people were hurt in this fire in philadelphias hunting park section. One of them is a firefighter. Sky force 10 was overhead as firefighters worked to cotaken contained. Both the firefighter and the other injured person are in stable condition. Others fires to tell you about, sky force 10 live right now over breaking news in bucks county. This is one of several brush fires that have erupted in our area. Today, you see firefighters dousing it with water. This is one along interstate 95. Hill top road. Firefighters, as we said hosing down a smokey area. The fire though is blocking one northbound lane of 95. You see traffic moving along slowly. This fire is close to some homes. But so far, no ones been evacuated. Brush fires also eating up part of the brendan burn forest in south jersey right now. 3 of 5 fires that broke out today are now contained. And they may have been deliberately set. Obama has gotten 300 of his judicial nominees confirmed. 300. At the same point in his presidency, george w. Bush got through 35 fewer confirmations than obama to this point. Progress is being made to clear that. We know what to thank for that, right . In november of last year, harry reid triggered the socalled Nuclear Option. He did away with filibusters on most nominations and made it impossible for members of the Minority Party to block the nominations. No more 60 votes. Thats the idea, anyway. But the Nuclear Option didnt fix everything, either. Theres still something called the blue slip. For a nominee to get a confirmation, both senators from that nominee state must sign off on it. They have to submit a blue slip consenting to the nominee getting a hearing. If they dont, the nomination dies. The blue slip is an old Senate Tradition but the rules of it have changed over the years. When republicans controlled the white house under george w. Bush, they did away with it and democrats
