Nagaland: New Reserve taxi drivers win 1st 7 A-side futsal tournament

Our Correspondent Kohima, Oct. 8 (EMN): Taxi drivers of New Reserve (taxi stand) emerged as the champion of the 1st 7 A-side futsal tournament of the All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) while AG team were runner-up, held at L Viluo Futsal Ground, Meriema on Saturday. R Victor Rutsa, assistant to the treasurer of ANTA Hq. Kohima, informed the event was organised to let the local taxi drivers have cordial relationship with one another. ‘Most of the time the drivers are behind the wheels to earn income for livelihood. Therefore, the one day event was organised as recreational activity as well as for them to foster brotherhood among the drivers’, he added. A total of 14 out of 19 teams (parking stands) participated in the event. The one day tourney was held at L Viluo Futsal Ground, Meriema. The winner walked away with INR 25,000 with running trophy while the 1st runner up received INR 15,000.

Youth told to rebuild trust in Naga society

Our CorrespondentMokokchung, Oct. 2 (EMN): Foreseeing a grim future with disastrous catastrophe in the Naga society due to prevailing lack of trust among the churches and communities, the executive secretary of Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM), Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener, has urged the Nagas to have faith in the Lord wholeheartedly to rebuild the trust. He stated this in his sermon during the Sunday service as the main speaker at the 12th triennial convention of the Nagaland Police Baptist Churches Association Youth Department (NPBCAYD) at New Reserve in Mokokchung, some 10 kilometers away from the district headquarters on October 2. Pongener observed that the spirit of trust was missing in churches, communities and even among various associations and theological institutions. He questioned as to how could one receives reward by doing God’s work without trust. New parking zones to streamline traffic in Kohima

Dimapur, Sep. 24 (EMN): The deputy commissioner of Kohima, Shanavas C, in an order dated September 22, notified on shifting of parking zone/areas for local taxis, regional taxis, and buses as per the decision of the RTA meeting held on September 16. According to the notification, the new designated parking zone/areas for local taxis, regional taxis, and bus services are as follows: (1) ISBT Kohima is designated for taxis/ NST and private bus services bound for Dimapur, Jalukie, Mon, Guwahati, and Shillong. (2) KMC Chaü Parking at Upper Agri, is designated for taxis and bus services bound for the western region. (3) KMC Tata Parking at High School colony below Government Polytechnic Institute (Rüliezou) is designated for northern-bound taxis and buses for Tseminyu, Wokha, Mokokchung, and Tuensang. Kohima Police proposes new city bus service

Our CorrespondentKohima, Sep. 13 (EMN): In what would help the daily commuters along the stretch from New Reserve to New Secretariat, the Kohima Police has proposed a city bus services. ‘We are proposing to start the city bus service from New Reserve to New Secretariat and accordingly, we have identified the bus stops. Currently, the city buses run from Lerie to High School Junction and we are proposing an extension,’ the deputy superintendent of police (Traffic), Manom Wallim, informed Eastern Mirror on Tuesday. A team of Kohima police led by the DSP were seen putting up bus stop signage on one of the identified areas near Razhu Point on Tuesday. He stated that an additional 4/5 bus stops to the existing ones have been identified from New Reserve to New Secretariat. Ved Prakash Memorial Building inaugurated in Mokokchung

Our Correspondent Mokokchung, July 15 (EMN): Late Ved Prakash Memorial Building was inaugurated by the general manager of NHIDCL, Z Samson Vijay Kumar, at New Reserve, Mokokchung, on July 15. Speaking on the occasion, Samson Vijay Kumar expressed hope that the students would get a good future with addition of computer knowledge. Short speech was also delivered by the deputy commissioner of Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh, wherein he has commended the contribution rendered by NHIDCL and DEF Mokokchung. He informed that the building was completed within a span of one year with an estimate cost of INR 23,40,500 with the contribution from NHIDCL and DEF Mokokchung. Superintendent of police, KM Aotula T Imchen, declared that the new building was dedicated to Late Ved Prakash, former SP of Mokokchung, who was martyred in 1994.
