ADRIAN THRILLS: Marina Diamandis has never fully nailed down her place in pop. Too polished for the indie crowd, too quirky to be mainstream, she s never become a household name.

Verdict: Hit and miss return
When they hit the commercial jackpot with their fourth album Only By The Night in 2008, Kings Of Leon looked set to join rock s big league.
The singles Sex On Fire and Use Somebody were everywhere, and the world s stadiums beckoned for a family quartet who had broken through five years earlier by mixing Southern country with the lean guitars of a garage band.
But superstardom eluded the three Followill brothers, sons of a Pentecostal minister, and their guitarist cousin Matthew. The excesses of touring and inter-band squabbles took a toll, and a run of indifferent albums followed.

Electronic is a British duo that might be considered a supergroup. Bernard Sumner (formerly of Joy Division and New Order) takes lead vocals and contributes keyboards, programming and other digital wizardry. Johnny Marr (guitarist with the Smiths) plays guitar and bass. The duo also collaborated and co-wrote many of their songs with the Pet Shop Boys and Karl Bartos of Kraftwerk.
As you might expect based on their backgrounds, Electronic’s music is a blend of dance, pop, rock and electronica. The tides of influence shift between songs, with some sounding like New Order and others having more of a Smiths vibe. The duo has released only three albums so far, with the most recent arriving back in 1999.
