The Income Tax Department launched a new website on August 26, 2023, with a user-friendly interface and several new features. The website is available at incometaxindia.gov.in and includes access to direct tax laws, comparison of Acts, Sections, Rules, and Tax treaties, a mobile-responsive layout, a Mega Menu, a Taxpayer Services Module, and dynamic due date alerts.
The portal is designed to provide seamless and intuitive user experience and offers a dashboard displaying all interactions, uploads or pending actions.
After many users reported issues while accessing the online income tax portal, the Income Tax Department said in a tweet that the Bengaluru-based IT bellwether Infosys is looking into it. User data was not impacted by the recent glitch in the online portal.
State government employees can also claim deduction under Section 80CCD(2) for NPS contribution by the employer up to 14 per cent of their basic salary and a dearness allowance.
Though many taxpayers have already filed their ITRs before the final deadline for December 31, some are yet to file returns. To avoid financial penalty, taxpayers have less than a month for file their income tax return.
