The Supreme Court directed Maharashtra to audit the Bombay High Court building and expedite drawings for a new high court in Mumbai. Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud stressed the need for prompt government action and highlighted the issue of staff relocation.
The Bombay High Court on Friday directed the State government to explore the availability of land in Goregaon for the construction of a new High Court complex, in place of the previously allocated.
The judge was felicitated by the Bombay Bar Association where he recounted an incident as a junior lawyer and how his senior told him that lawyers should be proud because they handle the ‘Constitution’.
The Bombay High Court today urged the Maharashtra government to grant vacant possession of land on which the new High Court complex will be constructed at the earliest.
The Chief Minister (CM) of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde said on Saturday that land for the new Bombay High Court complex will soon be allotted at Bandra in Mumbai.
