convened a special grand jury to consider evidence in a criminal investigation into former president trump s business dealings. seven minutes after that, it was abc news. that also independently matched the key point in this new reporting. manhattan district attorney convenes special grand jury in trump probe. a special grand jury has been convened to consider the possibility of criminal charges against president trump and people related to his business. now, does this mean former president donald trump is going to be indicted? does this mean he s going to be criminally charged? i don t know. and neither do you, and anybody who tells you they know the answer to that for sure, umm, that s somebody you might enjoy hearing stories from, but don t necessarily assume they re true. we don t know. you can t have an indictment unless you have a grand jury. but having a grand jury does not
investigation, and it locks witnesses in a version of the events, if she says the light was green at the accident, and later forgets, you have a transcript of proof of what color the light was when she saw the accident. so really important to lock in witnesses, and one other effect, it s such a good one. you don t go to a grand jury simply to indict. i think that would be unethical, and foolish. you ask a grand jury toin diet when you believe you have evidence sufficient to convict a trial. nothing is gained in indicting a case f you don t convict a trial. that requires proof beyond a reasonable doubt, and they will ask to indict when they have a higher standard met. so we don t know if that s the ultimate place it ends up,
