Mangaluru, Jan 29: The three arrested in connection to the attack on a police constable at New Chitra Junction are associated with âKarkana Gangâ, informed police commissioner N Shashi Kumar.
Speaking to media on Friday Janaury 29, he said, âThe arrested accused are Ibrahim Shakir (19) from Bolar, Akbar (30) from Sajipanadu, Bantwal, and Mohammad Haneef alias Karchi Haneef (32) from Kudroli. The total arrests in this case have risen to 11. Earlier, six people were arrested from âMaya Gangâ. Maya Gang and Karkana Gang coordinated with each other to execute the plan to attack the constable in revenge of the firing incident which took place in December 2019 during anti-CAA violence. Mangaluru, Jan 21: The Maya Gang , which participated in the murder attempt on a police personnel near the New Chitra Junction in the city recently, the police believe, also participated in the firing incident in 2019 in the city. Based on the information they got, the police are investigating the case with zeal.
Two young men had died in the firing incident on December 19, 2019, during the anti CAA protest after the police opened fire. A team of Maya Gang had tried to murder a police personnel on December 16, 2020, as a revenge for the above deaths. The police have arrested eight persons relating to the case.

The police have arrested six more persons in connection with a case of an attempt to murder a head constable near New Chitra Junction here on December 16, 2020.
Head Constable Ganesh Kamath was stabbed by two motorcycle-borne assailants. Then, the police booked a 16-year-boy and arrested Mohammed Nawaz (26), an employee of a chicken shop, in connection with the incident.

Mangaluru, Dec 21: In connection with an attack on a policeman on December 16, the police have arrested two persons. Two scooter-borne people had arrived near New Chitra Junction in the city on that day, after which the pillion rider had walked to the check point where Bunder station head constable, Ganesh Kamath, along with two women constables, was checking vehicles, and escaped after suddenly hitting Kamath with a sword.
Muhammed Nawaz (30) from Kudroli, and a 16-year-old boy, were taken into custody. Nawaz has been remanded to judicial custody till December 24 while the minor has been admitted into the juvenile home at Nittoor, Udupi.

Mangaluru, Dec 19: Relating to the attack with sword on a head constable on duty near New Chitra Junction in the city on Wednesday, the police personnel have taken two persons into custody. They are being questioned.
Bunder station head constable, Ganesh Kamath, along with two other women constables, was checking vehicles near the New Chitra Junction here when the pillion rider of a scooter approached him, hit him once with a sword and escaped in the waiting scooter. A case in this respect was reregistered at Kadri police station.
