Freedom, Justice, Rights. These were the calls made by the IFJ and its Asia-Pacific affiliates on May 3, World Press Freedom Day (WPFD) 2023. From Afghanistan to Australia, and everywhere in between, journalists and their representative bodies arranged a wide array of activities, calling on governments and media stakeholders to work to improve and support press freedom. This international commemoration is an important opportunity for journalists, media workers, and their unions to reflect on developments in their media landscapes, and organise against attacks on media professionals and press freedom.
