KATHMANDU, July 2: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, has said getting the minimum remuneration is the basic right of any working journalist.
After years of advocacy by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), the Minimum Wages Fixation Committee (MWFC), established under the Working Journalists Act, has joined the organisation in urging the Nepali government to increase the minimum wage for journalists by 40 per cent, with immediate support from government ministers. The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) commends the work of the FNJ and stands with its Nepali affiliate in calling for governmental action to increase the wages of journalists.
KATHMANDU, May 21: The Minimum Wages Fixation Committee (MWFC) has recommended to the government to set the minimum wage of working journalists at Rs 34,125 per month.
