BACOLOD CITY – Two brothers died while their aunt was injured when the motorcycle they were riding in collided with a truck at Hacienda Sto. Niño in Barangay Jerusalem, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental Friday, July 2.
Police identified the fatalities as motorcycle driver Rolly Sapangila, 35; and his brother and backrider Alvin Sapangila, 22. Injured was their aunt Lolita Daog, 56, of Barangay Jerusalem.
Investigation showed that the victims were headed to Barangay Jerusalem Proper while the truck driven by Richard Taladro loaded with sugarcane was traveling on the opposite direction towards Central Lopez in Sagay City.
Upon reaching the curved portion of the road, the motorcycle reportedly encroached the lane of the truck, resulting to a head-on collision, according to the police.

+ April 08, 2021 THE first provincial chapter of 1Sambayan, a national broad-based coalition of pro-democratic forces, will be launched in Negros Occidental Friday, April 9, at the Grand Hall of Acacia Hotel in Bacolod City.
Former Negros Occidental governor Rafael Coscolluela, one of the lead convenors of the group, said 1Sambayan was initiated by a group of citizens concerned about the state of the nation and the quality of governance under the Duterte administration.
Negros Occidental organized the first provincial chapter after the group’s national launch in Manila last month.

Dr. Jane Juanico, Infectious Disease Cluster head of DOH-Western Visayas, confirmed to Sunstar-Bacolod the scheduled arrival Friday of 370 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines for Negros Occidental and another 1,560 doses for Bacolod City.
Juanico also said 990 doses of additional Sinovac vaccines will arrive Friday for Negros Occidental.
She explained that Bacolod City is getting more vaccines because big hospitals that cater to Covid-19 patients and level 3 hospitals are located in the city, while Negros Occidental has only four Level 1 and 2 hospitals that cater to Covid-19 cases.
