The Central government has decided to grant an exemption to Tamil Nadu students from NEET 2017. Tamil Nadu has been demanding this for a long time, now politicians have finally come to an end with this decision of the Centre. Around 4000 seats are available in government colleges, including those surrendered by the private medical colleges. If the state government promulgate an ordinance asking for the exception for NEET this year, the Centre is ready to agree with that demand, said Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

It was earlier issued that the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2017 was not to be held but now the Supreme Court on Friday has refused to ‘nullify’ the examination, saying it would affect over six lakh candidates who have passed the test to join medical and dental courses.

The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to announce the result of the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET). The apex court has stayed the Madras High Court interim order restraining publication of results of NEET for admission to MBBS and BDS courses.
