In the early hours of Tuesday morning, the Arklow RNLI Lifeboat was tasked by the Irish Coastguard to assist a 16-metre yacht adrift near Arklow Bank with four crew on board.
A symbiotic relationship stretching back nearly two centuries, the Arklow community and its RNLI Lifeboat crews have supported one another to make the ancient Viking town and its stunning coastline safer for generations.
Arklow RNLI volunteers braved stormy conditions to carry out two daring rescues in one night, assisting the crew of a stranded fishing vessel and helping save two men who had fallen into the icy waters at Arklow Harbour.
