According to the NCOC statement, in light of increasing coronavirus cases, the forum deliberated upon proposed lock downs in high disease prevalence cities .

A special meeting of NCOC was chaired for this by Asad Umar on Tuesday. According to a declaration issued by the NCOC the forum has decided to implement broader lockdowns with stringent enforcement protocols where no mobility will be allowed except in emergency situations. Market timings will be from Sehri till 6:pm. For Taraweeh prayers NCOC said that it should be organised in open spaces as far as possible. Saturdays and Sundays will be observed as closed days at the national level.

NCOC reports 135 highest corona deaths in day since June 2020 Top Story April 15, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) in the last 24 hours has reported 135 deaths, the highest number of death toll due to COVID-19 in a single day since June, last year. Out of 135 deaths, as many as 126 included those who were under treatment in hospital and nine out of the hospital in their respective quarantines or homes, according to the latest update issued by the National command and Operation Centre (NCOC). The total death toll reached to 15,754 with 4,216 patients most of them admitted in hospitals were still in critical condition. The countrywide positivity rate, however, has come down to 9.73% as 4,681 out of 48,092 cases were tested positive. The national tally on Wednesday of total active COVID-19 cases recorded 76,757 with 4,681 more people tested positive for the deadly virus and 3,645 people recovered from the disease during the last 24 hours.

Pakistan has recorded the highest number of COVID-19 deaths in a day during the ongoing third wave of coronavirus with 135 people succumbing to the disease, according to the official data released on Wednesday. The previous highest during the third wave that hit the country towards the end of February was recorded on Tuesday with 118 deaths. However, the highest deaths in the COVID-19 pandemic was recorded on June 20 when 153 people died due to coronavirus.
