Maoists fired dozens of crudely-made rocket-shaped barrels called BGL and unleashed heavy gunfire in their lethal attack on a CRPF unit in Chhattisgarh on a day the paramilitary force opened a new camp in a remote area of the Bastar region.
Earlier in the year, ten security personnel and a driver were killed in an improvised explosive device blast allegedly carried out by Maoists in Dantewada district
The cadres had launched the gruesome assault with automatic weapons and Under Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGLs) when combined security teams were conducting search operations against the Maoist cadres near Tekalgudiyam village, Tarrem in June 2021.
Four Maoists have been arrested and three teenage boys detained for their alleged role in triggering an IED blast that killed 10 District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawans and a driver in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh on April 26, police said.
The powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was planted beneath the road a few months back by digging a tunnel through 'foxhole mechanism', said Bastar Police.
