Firefighters and other First Responders have lined the entire route and theyve already been joined by some civilians who want to show their support. A lot of people wanted to pay tribute. Jason cortez was injured during a Training Exercise this morning. He died at the hospital a short time later. This entire driveway and this entrance to the Emergency Department was filled with countless firefighters, Police Officers and sheriffs deputies who were all trying to pay their respects to jason cortez, who died around
He leaves behind his wife and two young children. He is the son of a retired firefighter. He started the Fire Department since 2007. He was most recently assigned to station three in the tenderloin the busiest in San Francisco. This is a very trying time as jason was wellliked in our department. Reporter the San Francisco Firefighters Union said our hearts go out to his family and loved ones especially his two young children. Firefighters mourn the loss of our brother and we are committed to doing everything in our power to support the cortez family in the days months and years to come. This is the first onduty depth of the San Francisco Fire Department since 2017 when the battalion chief died in his office after returning from a call. The particulate matter in the air around the San Francisco bay reach the 200 to 300 parts per million range which is considered very unhealthy. Heres a look at purple airs air quality map of bay area, including San Francisco, the east bay, the peninsula and the north bay are in that purple range that is the worst its considered unhealthy for everyone.
