We also visit ashland, the former secretary of state henry clay. Clays original home had to be torn down and rebuilt. It fell into disrepair and could not be saved. He built on the original foundation. What we have is a home that is essentially a 5part federal style home, italian in the details, architectural elements, etc. And an added layer of details added by henry clays daughter and granddaughter and so on.
