Rainy week in store for Killeen area

Starting Tuesday, the weekend’s sunny conditions around the Killeen area should give way to rainy ones. “It’s going to rain through the whole week,” National Weather Service Meteorologist Monique Sellers said on Sunday. Sellers said that a total of two to four inches of rain can be expected over a five-day period. “It will kind of add up during the week,” she said. Sellers said that a weather system along the West Coast will send the rainy weather our way, and that a similar system is lining up to impact the area at the end of next week. Long term flooding, rather than localized flash flooding, is more likely to be an issue, though Sellers said conditions will be monitored.

Sunday s precipitation could be rain or snow, only time will tell

Herald Democrat Those who have not already unpacked their winter coats and hats might want to get after that before this weekend. National Weather Service Meteorologist Monique Sellers said the forecast should become more clear as the weekend gets closer. Right now, she said, it is hard to tell if the cold air and precipitation headed to North Texas will arrive at the same time. If it does, we could see some snow. If not, we will see very cold rain.  She said the colder weather has already come into the area and isn t expected to leave until about the middle of next week. On Friday, the area should expect to see some sunshine, but the high temperature will stay around 47 degrees. Then Friday night, the area will dip below freezing to 30 degrees with a northeast wind at around 5 mph.

Possible rain/snow mix for year s end | Local News

The rainy system forecast for midweek in the Killeen area now includes the possibility of wintry weather. National Weather Service Meteorologist Monique Sellers said on Monday that multiple weather systems are expected to move through Texas, including a cold front that might bring a rain/snow mix to the Killeen area beginning late Wednesday night into Thursday, ending by Thursday night. Sellers advised drivers to be extra cautious on the road, especially leading into New Years Eve. “Driving could be a bit slippery, because it is cold and wet,” Sellers said. Sellers encourages area residents to follow NWS weather reports and information online at weather.gov. Search by your local zip code to look up weather for your specific area.
