From cbs news bay area, this is the afternoon edition. Right now on the afternoon edition, tensions escalating as propalestinian protesters rock Major College campuses all across the country. Good afternoon. Im ryan yamamoto. From coast to coast, demonstrations against the war in gaza have spread to several universities, leading to everett leading to concerns over safety. This was the scene at uc berkeley this morning. Protesters set up tents all in the center of campus. Hundreds of protesters held a rally yesterday, calling for an immediate ceasefire in the war. They are demanding the college divest from companies that have ties to the israeli military. In a statement, uc berkeley says with three weeks left in the semester, berkeley is prioritizing students academic interests. We will take the necessary steps to ensure the protests do not disrupt the universitys operations. We kick off our Team Coverage in tampa where Eric Sandoval is joining us. Reporter one in particular got close to donald trump on stage. It was a half hearted attempt to leap toward the stage. There were secret service, security all over the place. In some cases, backtoback, watching this crowd. Other than him, there were four other protesters. They were removed very quickly as well. The crowd started chanting trump, trump, trump over and over again. And people were taken out. Thats not the story, though. What did take the stories today, sarah palin showed up unexpectedly. She was not supposed to be here. Her husband was in a snowmobiling accident. And then Chris Christie showed up and the third surprise with a Florida Attorney general pam bondi, who just today announced her support of donald trump. Trump took the stage and hit the usual talking points which the crowd loved and he told people the reason hes doing this, he says he doesnt have to, hes doing it for them. Believe me, i did
