NewsClick row: The Delhi Police have opposed applications filed by NewsClick founder Prabir Purkayastha and HR department head Amit Chakravarty for a copy of the FIR, arguing that the accused have to approach police commissioner for FIR s copy, according to the procedure prescribed by the Supreme Court. Journalists from various media organizations protested against the police crackdown on NewsClick and the arrest of Purkayastha and Chakravarty.
Press Club of India (PCI) said it is deeply concerned about the raids. "We are monitoring the developments and will be releasing a detailed statement. The PCI stands in solidarity with the journalists and demands the government to come out with details," it said.
