Wits Protest: IPID investigate man s death, DA and EFF condemn violence

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) will investigate the death of a man – believed to be an innocent bystander – during the Wits protests that have unfolded violently on Wednesday 10 March.  Protesters, led by the Wits University’s Student Representative Council (SRC), have clashed with police as the protests over student debt intensified, with members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) deploying teargas and firing rubber bullets in an effort to disperse crowds.  IPID to invesitgate death of man during Wits protest   IPID confirmed that they will dispatch investigators to the scene and try to condone off the area where the man was shot dead.
