(SpaceX) WASHINGTON The Space Force awarded four launch missions worth $385 million to SpaceX and United Launch Alliance, bringing the number of missions assigned under its heavy-lift launch contracts to seven. Under the task orders issued March 9, ULA and SpaceX will each launch two missions. ULA was awarded $225 million to launch and integrate the USSF-112 and USSF-87 missions on its Vulcan Centaur rockets while SpaceX was awarded $160 million to launch and integrate USSF-36 and launch NROL-69 on its Falcon 9 rockets. The NROL-69 mission was awarded in partnership with the National Reconnaissance Office, which will separately fund integration for the mission.

“Space Exploration Technologies Corp., Hawthorne, California, has been awarded two individual firm-fixed-price task orders totaling $159,721,445 under the National Security Space Launch Phase 2 contract,” the Pentagon said in a statement.
According to the statement, work will take place in Hawthorne, Vandenberg Air Force Base and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. The work is expected to be done by the end of 2023.

Colorado-based aerospace company United Launch Alliance (ULA) has also been awarded a contract costing more than $224 million. The company, a joint venture between Boeing and Lockheed Martin, has a long history of working with the Defense Department.

The U.S. Space Force announced Tuesday that it awarded $384 million in contracts to United Launch Alliance and SpaceX, giving each company two missions to launch military satellites in 2023.
United Launch Alliance won task orders for the USSF-112 and USSF-87 missions. Both launches will use ULA’s next-generation Vulcan Centaur rocket and take off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
