NOIDA: The Union government has decided to set up the Indian Institute of Heritage in the city, an umbrella body under which all heritage institutes in the country will operate. The information was given by the Union culture and tourism minister G Kishan Reddy in response to an unstarred question in the Parliament on Monday. Officials in Gautam Buddh Nagar administration and Noida Authority, however, said they have no information about the project as of now. The minister said the Indian Institute of Heritage will be a world-class university and will focus on conservation of the country’s rich tangible heritage and research, development and dissemination of knowledge. He added that “excellence in the education of its students and activities associated with heritage will contribute to the cultural, scientific and economic life of India”.
