Meanwhile, the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has increased to 17.27 crore.
A total of 17,27,10,066 vaccine doses have been administered through 25,15,519 sessions, according to the provisional report till 7.00 am.
These include 95,64,242 healthcare workers (HCWs) who have taken the first dose and 65,05,744 HCWs who have taken the second dose, 1,40,54,058 frontline workers (FLWs) who have received the first dose and 78,53,514 FLWs who have taken the second dose and 25,59,339 beneficiaries in the age group of 18-44 years who have been administered the first dose.
Besides, 5,55,10,630 and 71,95,632 beneficiaries aged 45 to 60 have been administered the first and second dose respectively while, 5,38,06,205 and 1,56,60,702 people aged above 60 have taken the first and second dose.
NEW DELHI: After days of unfolding horror unleashed by the second Covid wave, there is a glimmer of hope.
India is finally seeing an early trend of decline in new cases and also in the number of deaths due to the virus, according to the government.
And this decline is being led by the states that have been among the worst affected in the second Covid wave till now.
Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana are among the 18 states and Union territories showing continued plateauing or decrease in daily new Covid-19 cases.
However, the relief is partial.
Global aid rushed to states/UTs to combat COVID

New Delhi [India], May 10 (ANI): As many as 6,738 oxygen concentrators, 3,856 oxygen cylinders, 16 oxygen generation plants, 4,668 ventilators/Bi PAP (Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure)/C PAP (continuous positive airway pressure therapy) and more than three lakh Remdesivir vials received as part of global aid to India have been delivered or dispatched to the states and union territories (UTs) to augment and supplement their infrastructure, so far, informed the Union Health Ministry on Monday.
The Union Government is ensuring that the global aid is being expeditiously delivered to States and UTs through fast custom clearances, and use of air and road, said the ministry.
Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 48,401. (PTI)
NEW DELHI: Maharashtra, Karnataka and Delhi are among 10 states that account for 73.91 per cent of the 3,66,161 new Covid-19 cases registered in a day, the union health ministry said on Monday. Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Haryana are the other states in the list of 10. Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 48,401. It is followed by Karnataka with 47,930 while Kerala reported 35,801 new cases. India s total Covid-19 active caseload has reached 37,45,237 and now comprises 16.53 per cent of the country s total infections. A net increase of 8,589 cases has been recorded in the total active caseload in a span of 24 hours.

NEW DELHI: Over one crore COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states and UTs, which will receive over 9 lakh additional doses within the next three days, the Union Health Ministry said on Monday.
The Centre has so far provided nearly 18 crore vaccine doses (17,93,57,860) to states and UTs free of cost.
