This year’s Upstate New York recreational boating scene, which traditionally kicks off Memorial Day weekend, will see a host of first-timers on the state’s waters.
The reason? Boat sales skyrocketed last year across the state and the country during the pandemic and the trend is expected to continue into 2021, according a boat manufacturers group. Many families, unable to take vacations, decided to purchase boats instead as a way to get outdoors, officials said.
