Along with the rest of the nation, Phek District National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP) observed “National Anti-Leprosy Day” and launched “Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign (SLAC) 2024” under the theme, “Ending Stigma’ Embracing Dignity” on January 30 at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Phek.
Expressing concern over discrimination and stigmatisation against people affected by leprosy and those cured of leprosy, state consultant for National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP), Dr. S.K Dey said leprosy cannot be successfully eradicated unless the stigma and discrimination were removed.
