Today is National Irish Coffee Day. It happens to coincide with a Monday, so of course, this will be the best way to get through the day for all of us working from home. Don t worry, I won t tell anyone.
According to Delish.com The Irish Coffee was created in the winter of 1943 by Joe Sheridan, a humble chef at Foynes Port near Limerick, Ireland. Why? Well, passengers would often need to spend the night in Foynes and a hub of new accommodation, bars, and restaurants was created to service the travellers. One day, after a plane abandoned its trip and turned back to Foynes, Joe whipped up something to help the passengers forget about the cold and their disappointment. Legend has it that everyone drank their drinks in total silence, savouring the unique taste as it passed through their lips. Neatly three dozen missing kids were rescued by authorities in Southern California during a human trafficking investigation.
Of the 33 children rescued, eight were being sexually exploited when authorities swooped in to save them, according to the FBI. One arrest was made and multiple investigations were launched as part of the probe.
In 2020, the FBI conducted 664 human trafficking investigations across the country, leading to the arrest of 473 traffickers.

New York State lost 1 million jobs during the COVID crisis last year due to lockdowns and lack of tourism and business activity.
According to the state Labor Department NYC alone lost nearly 600k jobs from Dec. 2019 to Dec. 2020 that’s about 1 in 8 jobs or about 12%.

National Irish Coffee Day How to celebrate here in New Jersey
January 25 is National Irish Coffee Day. It should be a national holiday. I really enjoy Irish coffee, served mostly this time of year and right up through St. Patty’s Day; I like it to warm up and as a grand finish to a great meal, especially when the winter weather is at its peak.
My favorite is Jameson, coffee, whipped cream and topped with Crème de Menthe (the green stuff). Some people like Bushmills Irish Whiskey, some like Tullamore Dew or Powers Irish whiskey; it depends on your taste.
