FEI appoints new Solidarity Director 03/04/21
Jean-Philippe Camboulives (FRA), has been appointed as Solidarity Director for the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), the global governing body for equestrian sports.
Already a well-known figure with National Federations and Continental Associations, Mr Camboulives, 55, will move into the role of Director after almost 10 years as Development Officer within the Department. He will take up his new position on 1 April, replacing Ms Jacqueline Braissant who will be retiring after 29 years of service with the FEI.

LIke so many Canadian athletes, Philibert-Thiboutot is chasing Olympic qualifying standards while trying to navigate all the pandemic restrictions.
Because Philibert-Thiboutot, a semifinalist in the 1,500 metres at the Rio Olympics, was sidelined with an injury for 2019 and the 2020 season was wiped out by the pandemic, he hasn t run the qualifying standard for Tokyo (three minutes 35 seconds). His best time is 3:34.23, set in 2015. Before his recent races in Europe, he had no world ranking, which is another qualifying route.
Next month’s Federation Cup athletics to serve as Olympic qualifier

New Delhi, Jan 29 : The 24th edition of the Federation Cup athletics, to be held next month in Patiala, will serve as a qualifier for this year’s Tokyo Olympics, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) said on Friday.
The Federation Cup was initially scheduled to be held from April 10 to 13 this year before being postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The competition will now be held from March 15 to 19 at the National Institute of Sport (NIS) in Patiala.
The Olympic Games are scheduled be held from July 23 to August 8.

New Delhi, Jan 27 : Long distance runner Sudha Singh, who was picked for the Padma Shri in the 2021 honours’ list, is so fiercely focussed on her dream of winning an Olympic medal that she hasn’t visited home in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, for well over a year and has been training in national camp.
The last time, 34-year-old Sudha, a former national 3,000 metres steeplechase record holder but is now concentrating on marathon, visited home was in December 2019. Mobile phone is her closest companion for keeping in touch with her family.
