This isn’t the first reported instance of the big cats contracting Covid. In May 2021, eight lions at the Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad had also tested positive for SARS COV-2.

Ludhiana: As a bird flu case was reported from a poultry farm in Qila Raipur area, the authorities on Sunday morning started culling birds at the farm. Nearly 75,000 birds are expected to be culled in a week-long process. The authorities are also screening the area of about 10-km radius to prevent further infection.
Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Khanna Sakatar Singh Bal, chairman of the panel formed by deputy commissioner (DC) to oversee culling of birds and containment operations, said the culling process started on Sunday morning and so far there were no other cases in the other poultry farms in the area.

Deputy Commissioner VK Sharma has formed a nine-member panel to oversee the culling and containment operations.
