AFTER issuance of a circular by the General Administration Department (GAD) on 29.1.2021, a Government order was issued recently wherein a committee was constituted for continuous and concurrent updation of official websites. Vide Government order No: 148-JK (GAD) of 2021 dated: 13.02.2021 the Government accorded a sanction for constitution of a three member committee headed by the Secretary to Government Information Technology (IT) Department. State Informatics Officer (SIO) of National Informatics Center (NIC) J & K and a representative from J & K e-Governance agency to be nominated by Secretary IT Department are the two other members of the committee. The aim of constituting the committee is to continuously supervise the updation of official websites of Govt departments and districts in Union Territory of J & K.

The WhatsApp alternative instant messaging app Sandesh Government Instant Messaging system has arrived. The app has been developed by National Informatics Center and is currently available on Apple App Store only to download.
The app has not been listed on Google Play Store, however, those interested can download the APK file for the app from the official website of the app. There’s a web version of the app as well.
The app offers almost similar features and functionality as WhatsApp like end-to-end encryption, audio and video calls, multimedia and file sharing and more.
Other features include contact sharing, message styling, tagging, chat backup and more.
Highlights
Sandes allows users to share videos or photos with up to 500MB whereas WhatsApp gives an option to send videos with 16MB and regular files up to 100MB.
Currently, Sandes doesn’t have a fingerprint lock feature and screen lock feature, which WhatsApp offers.
The Sandes app can be downloaded now via the APK link, which is not available to everyone right now.
After Koo which is touted as an alternative to Twitter, the government has its eyes on WhatsApp as it brings Sandes, which is an instant messaging platform. Accessible to anyone, Sandes is free to use and does not have any ads. Claims to be secure in terms of data breaches, the app has been developed by NIC (National Informatics Center), which is part of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

New Delhi: In a bid to compete with the messaging apps like WhatsApp and provide a secure way for people to communicate, the National Informatics Centre (NIC) has launched Sandes.
Built on the lines of WhatsApp, the Sandes app can be used for instant messaging using a mobile device.
The app is expected to give a boost to the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative of the government.
