New Delhi, Jan 5 (PTI) The total length of national highways in India increased 60 per cent to 1,46,145 km till December 2023, from 91,287 km in 2014, since the Narendra Modi government came into power, Road Transport and Highways secretary Anurag Jain said on Friday.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) received Rs 37 crore for construction of a tunnel at Laxmi Dungri, a reserve forest in Sambalpur district, official sources said.
India had a total of 91,287 km of National Highways till April 1, 2014, according to the official data. This was expanded to 145,155 km by March 2023. From building 12.1 km per day of roads in 2014-15, India saw 28.6 km of roads being constructed every day in 2021-22
