We gather to learn about and to commemorate, the 30th anniversary of president bush convening all u. S. Governors to create a unified set of National Educational goals. This work brought data and research at long last into the process of crafting educational policy. Our event today will undoubtedly shed light on the strides we have made since september 27, 1989, when this historic meeting took place. We will also shine a light on the work left to be done. And in many ways, the arctic is telling us, actually most polar regions are telling us they are under the most dramatic stress as the arctic certainly is warming 2 to 3 times faster than any
