A group of Waimate residents and organisations want to investigate the feasibility of a second multi-purpose indoor events and sports facility for the town. Waimate District councillor Colin Pankhurst, Warren White of Waimate Shears and resident Lewis Mclellan​, in partnership with the district council, the Southern Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association, South Canterbury North Otago show jumping and Waimate Shears are working to get a feasibility study underway for the facility that would be at the town s A&P Showgrounds.
