Shark attack. Take a look at video from Sand Dollar Beach south of manresa state beach. The 26yearold surfer now identified as ben kelly was attacked and killed by an unknown species of shark. It happened about 1 30 this afternoon. We have learned two other surfers were in the water at the time of the attack. It happened less than 100 yards offshore. We spoke to a marine biologist would talks about the particular dangers of that area. Its very common to see these juvenile predominantly fish eating sharks in the northern part of the bay. However, the shark that attacked our surfer friend early this morning that happened down at Sand Dollar Beach, attacks down there are very common, but only on seals and sea lions. The water one mile north and one mile south of the attack is going to be closed for the next five days. Deadly shark attacks are extremely rare. No matter what you might think, theyre rare.
