WITH the cancellation of several international flights, travellers to and from Pakistan have been plunged into a state of uncertainty. According to the Civil Aviation Authority, no move has been made on its part to cancel the flights. The CAA maintains that passengers were inconvenienced because international carriers first overbooked flights and later had to cancel them because of the restrictions imposed by the National Command Operation Centre. One carrier confirmed that some of its flights had been cancelled to comply with the NCOC’s restrictions. In May, the NCOC had announced a reduction in international travel from May 5 to May 20, allowing just 20pc of inbound air traffic from all over the world. The NCOC restriction was later extended till July 15. More than one million doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine delivered by COVAX Facility to support Government’s efforts to vaccinate high-risk people across Pakistan
Islamabad, 8 May 2021 – Today Pakistan received its first shipment of Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines (SII-AZ AZD1222) from the COVAX Facility.
The consignment of 1 238 400 doses of vaccines, which will be followed by another of 1 236 000 in a few days, will support the Government of Pakistan s ongoing historic drive to bring the pandemic to an end. Further allocations from June onwards will be confirmed in due course. The goal of the COVAX Facility is to supply Pakistan with enough doses to vaccinate 20% of the population depending on availability.
Pakistan Achieves Another Significant Milestone for Daily Vaccinations
Pakistan’s tally for the total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in a day crossed the 150,000-mark for the first time on Monday.
According to Federal Planning Minister, Asad Umar, 164,168 people were administered the COVID-19 vaccine on Monday. So far, 2,766,108 citizens have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

He added that the national average of compliance with COVID-19 SOPs has increased to 68% on 3 May from 34% on 25 April, adding that the public and government must maintain this level of compliance till Eid.

The Islamabad High Court has dismissed the petition seeking cancellation of in-person O/A Level exams across the country.
Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that courts can’t interfere in policy matters, adding that the case can be sent to the National Command Operation Center. The federal government can’t issue instructions to Cambridge, the judge remarked.
The students said that it is too risky for them to take exams in person, adding that the exams should be moved online.
