Its just gotten under way. The issue of Climate Change has been with us for decades. Esi stated all the way back in 1988 that addressing Climate Change is imperative. And experts have been working on the issue and proposing solutions all the while. Instead of just more frequent storms, i hope what were seeing and feeling is momentum to act on these solutions. I think there is some evidence that this is the case. Last week i testified before the Senate Energy committee and the need to reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions was front and center. That probably would not have been the case a few years ago. Again, not something around a few years ago. At esi, we know and our panelists know that inaction on Climate Change is making the solutions we need to limit Global Warming harder and harder to achieve. We have to act now and we need to contribute to the momentum to act and reinforce it constantly reinforce it and this is where esi comes in, to inform policymakers and share Lessons Learned to he
Lets go, guys. Lets go. The subcommittee will now come to order. Before i begin my opening statement, i want to make a general announcement to members about the process today. After months of trying to find a mutually acceptable date for a hearing, the committee was finally able to get a date with the administrator and we announced it. However last week we learned that the administrator was being summoned to meet with his boss, the president around lunch. Rather than postpone the hearing, or push the entire hearing to a Late Afternoon start time, or try to find another mutually acceptable date. We have come to an understanding of an idea for us to fully question the administrator. We will proceed with opening statements. We will recess at 11 00 a. M. , and reconvene in room 212 upstairs. I will also note that theres going to be a Voting Period in this last block and were going to try, with the help of my colleagues, to keep the hearing going through that vote series. I have done it bef

Day as a matter of fact. The Washington Post reporting that in the house alone, 39 democrats are already onboard. A report by the special counsel, Robert Mueller, outlines at least ten areas where trump may have committed obstruction of justice, and it did not exonerate the president as he falsely claims. But for democrats, impeachment is not just about the Mueller Report. There is mounting frustration with the stonewalling by the white house, which is refusing to honor subpoenas for documents and congressional testimony. Last week, the former white house counsel, don mcgahn, at the president s urging, ignored a subpoena to appear before the house judiciary committee. Then theres the president s strategy on going around congress when he doesnt get what he wants like he did when he declared a National Emergency after congress refused to fund his border wall. Not to mention the fact that with 2020 looming, democrats may be running out of time for impeachment. So far, the House Speaker Na
