Fadhil Yunus Many sporting enthusiasts in the country are still not familiar with teqball as a sport; even hearing about it seems to be a rarity, let alone playing the sport. Relatively new in the sporting sphere, teqball is popularly played overseas. It was introduced in Brunei Darussalam last year to encourage the community to practise an active and healthy lifestyle. It combines elements of football and table tennis mainly played on a curved table. Initially, the founder of the sport used a ping pong table. However, innovation inspired the creation of an arch-shaped table called a teqboard, which typically measures in at three metres in length, 1.5 metres wide and 0.76m high.

(FITEQ) Now the world’s best players are again facing off in international Challenger Cups. These events are resuming outside the United States, where they continued during the pandemic. Adam Blazsovics of Hungary, who is ranked No. 2 in the world, won the Budaörs Challenger Cup on April 24 in his home country. Blazsovics prevailed against a highly competitive field featuring the top five singles players in the world, capturing his first singles Challenger Cup title of the year.

Madagascar set to host first FITEQ National Challenger Series event Madagascar is hosting its first International Federation of Teqball (FITEQ) National Challenger Series event. In total, 32 singles players will be vying to become the first Madagascan National Challenger Series champion. There will also be 16 doubles teams and seven mixed doubles teams.  The National Challenger Series gives teqball players the opportunity to earn prize money and world ranking points. It is also a pathway to a place at the 2021 Teqball World Championships.  Teqball matches are taking place in Hungary this weekend as well, with round three of the country s National Challenger Series scheduled.

Senegal to stage first teqball National Challenge Series event of 2021 Thursday, 14 January 2021 Senegalese capital Dakar is set to stage the first International Federation of Teqball (FITEQ) National Challenger Series event of 2021. Scheduled to be held from January 16 to 17, the competition will be the second in Africa after Guinea-Bissau hosted the continent s first National Challenger in October. Senegal is also due to stage the second round from January 23 to 24 and the third round from January 30 to 31. National Federations in Eswatini, Guinea-Bissau and Ivory Coast are scheduled to host multiple rounds of the series in the coming months. All events in Africa will feature singles and doubles, with some also set to include mixed doubles.
