country public education has taken disenfranchised people and allowed them to become middle class. and we give them opportunities to do better than their parents did. whether that s 1840, where horace mann saw public schools to allow poor people to get in the middle class, in the 1950s with brown versus board of education for people of color, in the 70s and 80s for people with disabilities. that s all public education. it allows the middle class to thrive. and everything that our governor and our republican senators are doing is going against all of that. and it s a sad day. mr. o shaugnessy, if you were finishing your education this year and you were considering your career options, would you make that same decision again to become a public school teacher in wisconsin? i would not. in fact, the sad part is we have brand new teachers who are know looking at going to other
