Jordan Cox takes maiden TCR Australia race win amid drama in Tasmania

Jordan Cox has broken through for his first TCR Australia race win after threatening to do so in yesterday’s opening race of the season, taking his Garry Rogers Motorsport prepared Alfa Romeo Qiulietta QV TCR to the top step of the podium.
The former Improved Production star broke the TCR lap record at Symmons Plains multiple times en route to taking his third podium finish in the category, standing on top of the dais for the first time in his relatively short career in the category.

Time certain series opener sees Lee Holdsworth win on TCR Australia debut

Lee Holdsworth has converted his first TCR Australia pole position to race victory in the first race of the 2021 racing season, holding off Jordan Cox to take first blood in his series campaign.
The ex-Supercars driver put in a near perfect drive despite losing the lead at the race start to convert a pole in qualifying to beat some of the established names in TCR Australia competition.
His win aboard the Ash Seward Motorsport Alfa Romeo Giulietta QV TCR marks the first win for a driver in the series since the end of 2019 given the series didn’t run in 2020 thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jordan Cox celebrated Australia Day in style by taking his first ever victory in a TCR car at Symmons Plains Raceway.
However, it was fellow Alfa Romeo driver Lee Holdsworth who was on pole position for this second race of the 2021 TCR Australia Series. The former V8 Supercars star wouldn’t lead the pack for long though, as Cox managed to out-drag him as the start lights went out.
The best getaway of all, however, came from a row further back on the grid. Aaron Cameron got a brilliant launch in his Peugeot 308 TCR, and promptly scythed ahead of Holdsworth and Josh Buchan as if they were standing still, elevating him up into second place.

Lee Holdsworth claimed victory in the opening TCR Australia race of 2021, powering past fellow Alfa Romeo racer Jordan Cox to take the lead early on in the first race at Symmons Plains Raceway.
Holdsworth, contesting his first TCR race, had started the race from pole position but the Ashley Seward Motorsport driver was beaten by Cox when the lights went out and had to settle into second.
Holdsworth’s team-mate, youngster Jay Hanson, assumed third place behind the leading duo as Alfa cars locked out the top three places early in the race.

Keeping the pressure on Cox throughout the early laps, Holdsworth made his move for the lead on the Garry Rogers Motorsport driver on lap six, passing on the inside into the penultimate corner at Turn 6 to take the lead.
