Chaz Mostert extends lead with opening Bathurst race win

Chaz Mostert extends lead with opening Bathurst race win 2 days ago Chaz Mostert has taken his third race of the 2021 TCR Australia season after a battle with Aaron Cameron went the way of the 2014 Bathurst 1000 winner, further extending his championship lead. The Melbourne Performance Centre driver might have entered the race with the pole position but had to fight with 60kg of success ballast in his Audi RS 3 LMS, fighting back from a tough start to outpace the Garry Rogers Motorsport Peugeot 308 TCR of Cameron late in the race. Starting from the outside of the front row,  Cameron got the holeshot into Hell Corner, the GRM driver edging out polesitter Chaz Mostert to the first turn as further down the pack both HMO Customer Racing entered Hyundai i30 N TCR’s of Nathan Morcom and Josh Buchan were left sitting on the grid, having issues after a prolonged starting sequence.

Chaz Mostert converts pole into record-breaking victory

Chaz Mostert converts pole into record-breaking victory 2 weeks ago Chaz Mostert produced a dominant display in the opening TCR Australia race of the weekend at Phillip Island as he converted pole position into a fine lights-to-flag victory. Whilst qualifying earlier in the day had been held in dry conditions, the weather had – as expected – taken a turn for the worse by the time the opening race of the weekend came around, with drivers faced with a wet circuit that included numerous pools of standing water. Despite the rain, the field made in through turn one unscathed on the opening lap as Mostert retained the lead in his Audi having qualified on pole position, although team-mate Luke King was unable to hold off the challenge of Lee Holdsworth as he moved the first of the Alfa Romeos up into second spot.

Chaz Mostert doubles up at Phillip Island 2 weeks ago Chaz Mostert made it two wins from two in the second meeting of the TCR Australia season at Phillip Island, but only after the Supercars regular was able to overhaul team-mate Luke King after a race long battle between the Audi pair. Having dominated the opening race on Saturday, Mostert again started from pole in the Melbourne Performance Centre Audi and once again the Supercars regular made the best start when the lights went out to keep the lead from a fast-starting Peugeot of Aaron Cameron. Cameron then quickly cleared Mostert to move into the lead by the time the field reached turn four, whilst behind, Lee Holdsworth had slipped to the back of the pack having failed to get away when the lights went out after his car stalled.

Chaz Mostert storms to Phillip Island pole

Chaz Mostert storms to Phillip Island pole 1 month ago Chaz Mostert was able to build on the pace he showed in Friday practice at Phillip Island to secure his first TCR Australia pole ahead of the second round of the season. With rain in the air, qualifying kicked off with the opening ten minute session being used to determine who would make it through to the top ten shootout. Nathan Morcom would lead the way in his Hyundai i30 N TCR but it was a close run thing as Chaz Mostert – who had topped opening practice on Friday – ended up less than a tenth of a second behind in his Audi, with the similar RS 3 LMS of Luke King going third – albeit three tenths of a second off the fastest time.
