A local deputy is back on his feet, months after he was shot in the line of duty. Yavapai-Apache Police Sergeant Preston Brogdon is inspiring others with his determination to get better every day.
February 9, Sgt. Brogdon was shot in the abdomen while responding to a call near Camp Verde, Arizona. The five-year veteran and father of four was airlifted in critical condition.
On April 12, Sgt. Brogdon was released from the rehab facility, as his brothers and sisters in blue from other Arizona law enforcement agencies lined the hallways, showing their support for him as he made his way to the car for his caravan home.
The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office said that the body of 39-year-old Valentin Rodriguez was found in the Verde River, near the Tunlii Crossing, by a father and son who were fishing.
