First responders and volunteers spent hours yesterday filling and piling sandbags outside saint johns, trying to protect it from the waters. The principal says within an hour the water had started running down the side of the school. Student were evacuated from the school, as well as from parkview primary. I was actually monitoring it all day because when i picked her up from school we seen that we heard on the news that the other roads were flooded in town so we were just keeping an eye
Our big story at nine. A Community Honors a little girls memory. Nearly two years since her death. 5yearold Layla Petersen was killed in 2014. In a random shooting. This evening. Students and staff at her former school dedicated a special garden in her memory. Fox6s Madeline Anderson joins us in studio to explain the meani this garden is supposed to remind everyone who visits it of the joy little laylah brought to people while she was alive. As well as inspire hope and peace in the midst of her death. Beginning with a song from students who would have likely been Laylah Petersens classmates. We have been driving through dozens of neighborhoods in new berlin and west allis as they deal with these flooding issues. Police have had to close numerous streets and force people off the roads and into their homes because it was getting dangerous as many of the local creeks and rivers have flown across flowed across peoples front yards. Many people who live in these areas say they are prone to flooding but they havent seen it this bad in several years. The missing witness who held up an arson murder trial yesterday has been found. But proceedings were suspended when a key witness couldnt be located. He has since been found and is now being held in jail. New jurors will now be selected next week before the trial can move forward. Morgan is accused of
