Reporter the arrests are just the beginning in their ongoing investigation. So far officers confiscated firearms and hundreds of Marijuana Plants from oakland streets. Loaded firearms and thousands of dollars of pot, now in position of Alameda County Narcotics Task force. We served 10 search warrants throughout the city of oakland. They were primarily marijuana growing associated to the mexican drug trade association. Reporter officers arrested 15 people who they say had ties to the mexican cartel. Several homes were the target of this investigation. Officers had their weapons at the ready and an Armored Vehicle was used for protection. Authorities say the suspects are armed with assault weapons. We had a subject sleep in one of the houses that we executed a warrant on. He was armed with a loaded ar 15 semi automatic assault weapon.
Connections to the drug cartel. They were operating out of a number of homes in the city of oakland. The Narcotics Task force raided ten homes targeting illegal marijuana free throwing operations. Two kids were placed into custody by deputies over the last couple of days. This investigation, authorities say, was started by tips from the public. Confirmed that at this point. The chief has been with the department for three years. He took over in 2013 and Howard Jordan in anthony creavalle both left position of chief within the same week. He has issued a statement which reads, i am so proud to have served oakland over the course of my two decadelong career. When i took this job three years ago as interim chief i bow to help move the department forward and make oakland safer by forging a stronger relationship with members of the community.
