San Angelo woman pleads guilt in connection to February homicide

CLARIFICATION: This article clarifies what charges the state made against Sierra Paula Maureen Camarillo. SAN ANGELO  A San Angelo woman connected to the February shooting death of Rey Robles could avoid going to prison after pleading guilty Monday to a lesser charge. About 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2021, Sierra Paula Maureen Camarillo attended a plea hearing in the 119th District Court. Camarillo was charged with tampering with evidence in the death of Robles on Feb. 26, 2021. In exchange for her plea of guilt, the state suggested 6 years deferred adjudication. 119th District Judge Ben Woodward accepted the state s suggestion and sentenced her to 6 years deferred adjudication, a type of probation that could help her avoid conviction if she follows the rules of the agreement.

Fatal shooting of San Angelo man in alleged drug deal leads to arrests

Investigators say the shooting happened Thursday night during a drug deal, according to an arrest affidavit. On Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, police arrived at an apartment complex in the 3300 block of North Bryant Boulevard where they found the body of Rey Robles, who died from trauma believed to be the result of being shot with a firearm, according to an arrest affidavit. Justice of the Peace Susan Werner declared Robles deceased and ordered an autopsy. Police say verbal altercation during drug deal led to fatal shooting People who were in the apartment during the shooting told police Robles arrived at the apartment to buy marijuana, and while there, asked the marijuana be weighed before purchasing it, according to arrest affidavits.
