I want to go through the cameras to give you a sense of what we are seeing across the bay area. Here is the camera. You can see the haziness over the bay bridge, causing low visibility this morning all across the waters there. This is ssl. It is gray. This is not clouds and not fog. It is smoke throughout the area. Places like san jose are looking pretty nasty this morning. South of San Francisco, you can smell it. Heres a look at the Golden Gate Bridge where you normally see the fog coming through but we are seeing smoke all across the area. Of course, it is because of the fires across to the north. The smoke and the fire is burning. You can see the line where you can see the glow. That is where the fires are burning. It is sending the thick smoke billowing. The High Definition doppler is showing a good view of the smoke, spreading further south and highway 29 is dealing with it it is one thread but we can pick it up on the satellite radar. That is where the smoke is coming in on the
Oakmont neighborhood off of white oak drive in the eastern part of santa rosa. Take a look behind me. This is the annandale state park land. What you have here is a wildfire coming down the hill towards the homes in this neighborhood. Firefighters are taking a stand. They do not want this fire to spread into these neighborhoods, into the homes. So far there are no structures damaged. This is still just a wildfire. We are seeing firefighters here keeping a watchful eye. The biggest thing happening today is the fact that the winds have died down. If we were still experiencing the same winds as yesterday that were blowing 60 Miles Per Hour at some point in santa rosa, there is no way firefighters would be able to keep this fire from spreading into the neighborhoods. That is what has caused so much destruction throughout the city of santa rosa and the surrounding areas in Sonoma County. Again, firefighters are here on the scene. They are between this fire in the homes. What is incredible i

It appears to the area it applies to the areas highlighted in red there on your screen. Those are under mandatory evacuation orders. This is just one example of why the Santa Rosa Hilton hotel burned to the ground, just one of several businesses destroyed. Guests of the hotel had to evacuate. Most left their belongings behind, then consumed by the flames. And a number of people are still trying to locate their loved ones. Sonoma county has received more than 100 missing persons reports, although authorities arent sure how many of those are multiple calls about the same person. But if youre trying to locate a loved one or rep

Neda iranpour will tell us about the weather conditions that may cause shifts of wind and flareups throughout the day. Jessica flores is at the atlas fire with the spread from napa to Solano County but we begin with jackie ward in santa rosa. Reporter this situation is constantly changing. We are on Bennett Mountain road and we were coming from santa rosa trying to get over to glen ellen. But we were met by several road. So we are here at Sonoma Mountain road. Behind me is the ridge thats highway 12. The flames were intense. You can see the glow coming from them. There is not what the president says it is. The president officially announcing his new pick for the department of Homeland Security. One of the first things onnen table for Christine Nielsen will likely be crafting a way forward on this topic weve just been talking about, Disaster Relief efforts in puerto rico. However, in a series of tweets this morning, the president called puerto rico a disaster before the category 5 hurricane struck and said, we cannot keep fema, the military and the First Responders in p. R. Forever. In a surprise move, the white house put the president s chief of staff john kelly before reporters at todays press briefing where he was forced to defend the president s comments about the devastated u.
